South Holston River Stream Report

The rain has finally arrived and we've needed it.  Even though it's been a big change from the blue bird days we've been having, the fishing has been great.  The big browns are on the move and if you can find them the rewards are great.  We are in the transitional period between Sulphurs and Baetis, but there has been enough hatch activity to get the fish moving.  The TVA has cut back on the release schedule, giving good opportunities for low water fishing.  Dry fly fishing is still a possibility, especially in the upper river.  Nymphing has been the ticket of late, the fish are keyed in on midges and baetis nymphs. Even though the flies are small the fish are fat and turbo charged.  Some of the best fighting fish of the year are hooked during the fall. As October approaches the fishing will only get better and don't forget about the incredible scenery.  We still have plenty of openings in October so call to book your trip before the winter is upon us.  (828) 719-1543
