The South Holston is slowly moving into it's winter time mode. During low water the bite is shifting to bwo's and midges. Nymphing is the ticket to consistent success, but there are still possibilities for rising fish. High water is still fishing well especially on nymphs. The fish are starting to stage up for the spawn. Be aware of redds and try to avoid fishing to actively spawning fish. There are two closed sections on the river right now so pay attention to the signs. If you can take the cold the fishing is definitely worth the effort.
